YANGÁ VANGUARD: J. Randle Centre Calls for Culture Writers & Thinkers

The J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History is calling for applications to YANGÁ VANGUARD, a creative initiative bringing together writers and thinkers documenting contemporary Nigerian and African culture.

Following the success of the Afropolis Lagos Festival 2024, the programme aims to build a lasting cultural archive focused on "street culture, art, pop culture, subcultures, and future imaginaries from Lagos and beyond".

Twenty participants aged 19–36 will be selected for a 10-day, in-person intensive retreat in Lagos, guided by experienced facilitators. The programme includes a two-stage selection process and leads to a paid publication opportunity with the forthcoming YANGÁ Journal, a quarterly culture publication.
