National Theatre Training Courses Close September 19 – Apply Now!

This September, the National Theatre is rolling out a fresh series of hybrid training programmes designed to equip theatre practitioners with vital skills across different disciplines. Running between 22nd September and 24th October 2025, the four courses combine physical and virtual sessions, offering flexible learning for creatives at all levels.

The courses include:

  • Costume Design for Film & Theatre Practitioners (Sept 22 – Oct 3)

  • Research & Development for Theatre Practitioners (Sept 30 – Oct 13)

  • Narrative Scoring for Composers & Music Directors (Oct 2 – Oct 15)

  • Project Management for Theatre Practitioners (Oct 13 – Oct 24)

Participants will benefit from expert instructors like Re Olunuga, Dr. Leesi Patrick, Lydia Idakula, and Yoanna “Pepper” Okwesa.

The General Manager and chief executive of the National Theatre, Mrs. Tola Akerele, said that these courses address specific skill gaps identified within Nigeria’s creative sector.

“Practitioners have consistently requested access to specialised training in these areas. These programmes provide that access while equipping artists with business skills necessary for sustainable careers,” she stated.

The programmes are delivered in partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), with the partnership potentially extending to future training initiatives at the National Theatre.
