Wanted In-Laws and Jigida Stage Plays Showing in Lagos This October

Oct 20, 2026

Wanted In-Laws and Jigida are two stage plays written and directed by Leke Gbolada, showing in Lagos State as part of the 2026 MUSON Festival.

Wanted In-Laws explores marriage, family conflict and loyalty when a wife commits what her in-laws consider an “abominable act” against her husband. As the in-laws invade the couple’s troubled home to condemn her, events take an unexpected turn when the estranged husband and wife unite to defend their home. The production stars Patrick Diabuah, Nini Mbonu, Omololu Sodiya, Gold Ikponmwosa and Tola Adeleye.

Meanwhile, Jigida is a musical folk comedy set in a village where men exploit young girls under the guise of performing traditional rites to cleanse the land. After years of silence, the women begin to challenge the system, confronting questions of power, complicity, tradition and resistance. The play features Ken Ayeni, Najite Dede, Davidson David, Oluwole Muyiwa Moses and Alidou Samuel Boluwatife, among others.

The performances form part of the 2026 MUSON Festival, scheduled to run from October 23 to November 8, with a programme featuring classical music, jazz, opera, theatre, exhibitions, youth programmes, ten major concerts and a symposium.
