The Prodigal Stage Play Showing in London This April

Apr 1, 2026

The Prodigal is a new theatrical production by Talking People showing in London this April.

Marking the company’s first site-specific production, the play will be staged inside a Nigerian family-run restaurant, creating an intimate and immersive storytelling experience. The Prodigal explores themes of generational conflict, identity, and belonging, centred on the return of a woman who left her children behind years earlier to return to Nigeria.

As past and present collide, the story unravels emotional tensions within the family, touching on migration, cultural expectations, and the complexities of reconciliation. The restaurant itself plays a vital role in the narrative, serving not just as a backdrop, but as a living, breathing space shaped by history and memory.

Talking People, known for its five-star improvised theatre style, continues to push creative boundaries with this production—blurring the lines between audience and performance, and redefining how stories are experienced on stage.

Adding a sensory layer to the performance, food will be provided by Toyin’s Kitchen, allowing audiences to engage more deeply with the cultural and emotional landscape of the story.

The play features a talented cast including Aayan Ibikunle Shoderu, Lorraine Adeyefa, Michael Salami, Jonathan Ajayi, Tomi Egbowon-Ogunjobi, and Kemi Adekoya.
