The Engagement Stage Play Showing in Ibadan This September

The Engagement, a popular romantic farce by renowned Nigerian playwright Femi Osofisan, will take the stage in Ibadan this September.

Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Oyo State, and the Oyo State Council for Arts and Culture, the production offers audiences an entertaining rendering of Osofisan’s acclaimed play.

The story follows a high-strung young farmer who arrives at his wealthy neighbour's home to ask for his assertive daughter's hand in marriage.

What begins as a marriage proposal quickly unfolds into a lively theatrical encounter filled with romance, humour, and the tensions that come with love, family, and social expectations.
