The Engagement Stage Play Showing in Ibadan and Lagos This June
Jun 3, 2026

Fàdákà Studio returns to the stage this June with a revival of The Engagement, one of the most celebrated comedies by Emeritus Professor Femi Osofisan, as part of activities marking the renowned playwright's 80th birthday.
Produced by Olamide Adedapo-Olarinuju and Adedapo Treasure, and directed by Adedapo Treasure, the production brings back a timeless story that has delighted theatre audiences for decades.
The play follows Elemude, a nervous and highly-strung young farmer who arrives at the home of his wealthy neighbour, Chief Medayekan, with a singular mission—to ask for the hand of Medayekan's strong-willed daughter, Ronke, in marriage. What unfolds is a hilarious comedy of manners filled with witty exchanges, misunderstandings, and memorable characters.
The revival continues Fàdákà's tradition of bringing classic Nigerian plays back to contemporary audiences. The studio is also known for acclaimed productions such as Daughters of the Dance and Four of Her Kind.
