Grip Am Stage Play Showing in Osun This June

Jun 2, 2026

Grip Am is a stage play showing in Osogbo this June, presented by Kunga Arts Troupe and based on the acclaimed book by renowned Nigerian playwright Ola Rotimi.

Directed by Ire Omokunga, the production tells the story of Ise, whose name translates to "Poverty," and his wife, Aso, meaning "Argument." Living in a rundown rural home, the couple constantly quarrel over their difficult circumstances, with Aso blaming Ise for their hardship and lack of progress.

Moved by their endless disputes and suffering, God sends an Angel to grant each of them one wish. What follows is a humorous, thought-provoking, and engaging journey that explores human desires, contentment, and the consequences of our choices.

According to the organisers, the production promises a theatrical experience that "will have you laughing, thinking and cheering" from start to finish.
