Asaba Stage Play in Lagos this December (Free)
Oct 29, 2025

Asaba is a grand stage production celebrating the rich and beautiful culture of the Asaba people.
Written by the famed Prof. Ahmed Yerima with support from the late Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Edozien.
It takes a 'dispassionate' yet deeply evocative look at the historic events of 1967 — a moment forever etched in Nigeria’s collective memory.
Directed by Mofoluwake Edgar, this Duke of Shomolu production continues the tradition of elegantly reimagining history through art.
A 25-member cast brings to life an unforgettable blend of indigenous rhythm, movement, and drama — all deeply rooted in the cultural identity of Asaba.
The production also enjoys the thoughtful input of respected Asaba indigenes and palace chiefs, ensuring authenticity and depth at every turn. An official invitation has been extended to the highly revered Asagba of Asaba, adding even greater significance to the occasion.
